The following courses will be available as a part of our calendar of events. See our course schedule page by clicking on the link below. The following courses are available: Short Film Script Workshops Unlike other Workshops what we offer gives writers a completed script at the end of the course. Three of the scripts from the previous Workshops (in association with the NFN) have won awards. Two from the Film Council and one from the BBC. The format is for one full weekend of Saturday and Sunday and the completed screenplay to be e-mailed to us two weeks later. Your completed script will be approximately 10 minutes in length. You will start from scratch. No need to come along with ideas. You will be helped to create and develop a new idea with intensive assistance from Graham Carlisle and his team. Your completed script will also be submitted for entrance to the Northern Screenwriters Script Database (see SERVICES for details). Writers are encouraged to continue meeting their new colleagues from the Workshops in order to develop new work using our methods. Full cost of course is UKP 95. If full fee is paid in advance the cost is reduced to UKP 90. Please send your contact details and a deposit of UKP 30 one week before the coures is run to Northern Screenwriters, 18, Mauldeth Road, Withington, Manchester M20 4ND. Please make cheques payable to ‘Northern Screenwriters’ (the remained is payable on the day). Or you can pay direct, over the web by sending us an e-mail indicating your intention to attend via info@northernscreenwriters.co.uk . Once we've confirmed that there is space on the course, click on the Pay Now link below to pay your deposit with a credit or debit card. For comments from participants in the last workshop click the Testimonials icon below. The Fee for the Short Film Workshop is one of the least expensive in the country and ensures the writers get hands on, practical help and guidance in writing. Feature treatment workshops A similar structure to the short film workshops, writers generate ideas for feature scripts and spend a weekend developing them into 10 page treatments. The results of this workshop can then be developed in the Script Development schemes (see below) to support commercial projects through to advanced draft screenplays. Check out the NEWS page for details of our next course. Feature development courses Feature films are difficult to develop. Writing them is a lonely business so Northern Screenwriters are on hand to provide assistance and support to get you from first concept to first draft. The format is as follows. A one day taster course must be attended. In order to qualify for this taster session, you must provide a short script or 10-page excerpt from a longer piece to demonstrate you have the skills to complete a screenplay. At the taster session, we provide the tools and concepts to put you on the road to writing a feature length screenplay. The taster session will cost UKP 50 to attend. Check out the NEWS page for details of our next course. Just send your contact details and a sample script (in RTF format please) and then once you have been approved, please send UKP 50 one week before the coures is run to Northern Screenwriters, 18, Mauldeth Road, Withington, Manchester M20 4ND. After the taster session, if you wish to proceed with the development course, we will provide 10 hours of face to face support over a 2-3 month period consisting of mutually arranged 2 hour sessions. These sessions consist of advice, script editing nand feedback. Reading of all material produced will be done prior to these sessions (subject to pre agreed deadlines for submission) and includes written reports on your script and inclusion on the Script Database when you complete the first draft. The fee for this service is UKP300. Keep you eye on the news section for the next taster session dates. |
